A nice little hippie coffee house in Apple Valley. The coffee and soup are excellent. All the drinks are named after pop culture idols from the 60's. For example,Janis Joplin (vanilla latte), Bob Dylan, (cappuccino), and so forth. I love the atmosphere at this place. The interior is decorated with pictures from the 50's and 60's and the classic rock station is playing on the radio. Nevertheless, it is a quite atmosphere. There is even a lounge, which is a great place to relax and read a book or get homework done. I would go to Valley Girl any day over the big name coffee chains like Caribou or Starbucks.

Kids growing up in the burbs today (and even in the city) may only think of Starbucks or Caribou when it comes to coffee. They missed the first wave of independents. Having a place like Valley Girl reminds us of the roots of the coffee craze. Yeah, its a bit quirky and junky, but you have to hand it to the people who are working there every day in a competitive, chain store market.

I absolutely adore this small shop, the mother/daughter duo are wonderful. They have unique gifts, a great assortment of food (I recommend the veg. panini) and drinks. Great spot to catch up with a friend or study. My only reservation is their tea selection which is just ok, but their coffee is wonderful! "The Che" is their best tea selection IMO.

I cannot wait to go back. We brought our family here after a windy soccer game and let me tell you...what a gem! I've been wanting to stop forever but WOW...it's so fun. They make awesome treats, coffee and tea. Their mango smoothie is to die for! They are fun, and the backroom is so cozy for a group of people to catch up and relax. I can't wait to go back. Did I mention that they treat you like family there? Whatever we needed they were so sweet and warm. It would be a great place to have a small book club meeting. Gotta try it!

A fabulous small business that beats the bucks and bou which dominate the fancy coffee and tea drinks market. The bonus is the quirky cards, clothes, and gifts that are for sale here, and the friendly owner who remembers you after your first visit.

Super cute! This is the perfect place to meet a girlfriend and catch up! It's a great combination of coffees, snacks, and fun gifts (or something to brighten up your own day). I love that it's local and so unique!

I absolutely adore this place. They have an awesome menu of sandwiches, smoothies, and coffee. They also sell clothes, jewelry, spa kits, incense, and books. My mom loves the dishes they sell there. It's a cute boutique to hang out with your best friend. You'll find me there!

If you like Patina for unique gifts this is a great little spot. I had a "Janis Joplin" (a. k. a. Vanilla late) which needed a little more vanilla. Great little meeting room in the back to sit and catch up with friends.

Adorable little coffee shop. I got an almond milk latte and my date got an Americano. We were VERY impressed by the taste of the espresso. Delicious! The barista was super sweet and chatty. She told us about her business and daily activities of owning a coffee shop. I wouldn't go here for lunch. I was disappointed that they don't have any gluten free sandwich or quiche options. She said they occasionally have macaroons that are gf. I will definitely be back for the coffee though!

Went here with a friend for lunch. We both got a panini. I also got a coffee. He got a soup with his panini. There was one person working. After we entered a group and 2 more single people came in. I think they ordered things for lunch as well. So for one person it was getting pretty busy. It took about 10 min for us to get our food. The lady apologized for the wait but I didn't think it was too long. My coffee (which I was drinking while waiting for my food) was a hazelnut latte. It was pretty good. I'd say better than what I'm used to from Starbucks or Caribou. My friend and I agreed that the panini was OK. It was pretty plain (mine was a Ham with cheese and honey mustard). It was average size and cost $8. Seemed like the price was kind of high for what I was getting. I'd say it seemed to be worth more around $6. My friend said his soup was good but nothing special. Overall I'd say it was a nice and relaxing place. The lady working the shop was extremely nice. I'd probably go there again for a place to chill and have a coffee. I don't think I'd go there again to eat a meal though.

Cute little shop to get a bit of any cafe food you want. Lovely Panini's and baked goods. The atmosphere is calming and nice. The lady who owns the joint is surely kind.

We need small and "local" businesses. I know it, you know it, we all get it. But in order for small businesses to survive and thrive, they have to do it as good or better than their chain competition. Regarding this small business, Valley Girl, I was not impressed. So here's my reasoning on that last sentence. I walked in a little ahead of the family clan and I saw the owner to my right working on something behind the counter; and nothing. No greeting; no acknowledgement to my presence; no raising her head at all. So I proceed to look at all the stuff she's hawking. After a brief pause comes in the rest of the troop and I'm waiting for that greeting to my wife at least. No, my wife beat her to the punch on that one. Look, I understand. We all have shitty days. But business is business and we have to suck it up and put on the smile. So we ordered our drinks, me a latte; my wife a almond milk latte; and my son a hot chocolate, which he didn't reallly want but I wasnt going to Dunn Brothers today. Well, my latte was basically milk with a splash of espresso flavor. Much too milky. My wife said hers was ok. My sons hot chocolate downright sucked. It tasted like it was made with soda fountain syrup or some really cheap crap instead of decent hot chocolate syrup; not good and undrank. Another thing that was more annoyance than crappy review worthy was that there was no gluten free products. I don't expect sandwiches or any homemade gf goods when I enter most coffee shops, but in todays market of food allergy sufferers, prewrapped food bars are pretty mainstream and do bring in customers. At least the family seemed unfazed, my son surprising yet impressing me with the comment "Supply and demand, Dad". Whatever. I'd been wanting to go in this shop for a while, but the enticement today was a Living Social voucher. Understandably, I could only use it on food. Thing is, there wasn't much food to be had. I think there was a quiche and maybe one sandwich in the cooler and as stated, nothing gf. End result? I skipped the voucher. Ok. Enough bitching. My wife thought the owner was sweet despite my two cents worth and it is a pretty cool looking shop. I'm giving a somewhat begrudging 3 stars because it is a small business and perhaps it was indeed just a odd shitty day.

It can be frustrating if a website doesn't reflect accurate open hours - agreed, but I don't know what other people are complaining about in terms of food or drinks. I've been here a couple times and was impressed. I love the vibe, the employees are super welcoming and nice, the hot panini sandwiches are tasty. I had the turkey pesto last time - yum! The owner gave me a punch card and put a bunch of punches in it to "get me started." That was generous. Coffee and coffee drinks do taste different from shop to shop, but personally I have enjoyed my latte and cold press. Maybe the recipes just aren't for everyone? For comparison, I would rather go here than Starbucks, Dunn bros, and Caribou for coffee and for food (created on the spot versus removed from a package). For what a locally owned coffee shop selling eccentric, often locally sourced gifts, I think 5 stars is fair.
